The Life of a Lagos Mad Woman
My name is Joy. I live very close to the dump hill here. I am a mother of two. Say… Where the heck are my children? Oh yeah, I remember. They both died after their father left me and never came back. How did they die? Abeg, don’t ask me questions jo. Leave shit mata for shitpacker.
Since the members of my husband’s family called me a witch and sent me packing, I decided to take a long walk to where I’ll find peace and serenity. Nobody disturbs me here. It’s my own world. You should see my apartment, it’s lovely. I laid the green rug I found at the dump site on the floor and then I’ve got some paint buckets I use as my toilet bowl. When they are filled, I stark them on each other and count them all over to see how many buckets of faeces I’ve got. Isn’t that beautiful? Yet they say I’m mad.
Right now, I’m waving at Sikiru. Sikiru is the bus conductor that comes to me everytime to collect number for Baba Ijebu. They say the numbers I give them are always lucky numbers. I never get it wrong. I like Sikiru a lot. He is the only one that gives me money or food in return for the number. The others just bring their pen and paper… Stupid idiots. God will judge them.
Apart from Sikiru who gives me money and food, there are also some nice men whom I like so much. One of them is the man that comes to the T-junction every Wednesday at 1:00am to leave me food. He always acts weird anyway. He wears a white wrapper and carries the food in his hands like he wants to serve Queen Elizabeth. He puts the food in a brown or black bowl and places it right in the middle of the T-junction. I really like him o. It’s not every time you get to be fed in a black bowl. He really treats me specially. But there’s something he does that I don’t understand. He doesn’t like it if I come for the food when he’s around. He chases me with a stick. He prefers me eating when he’s absent. I wonder why.
I also like the woman who comes every last Friday of the month to share jollof rice in the afternoon. She packs it in a nylon bag and gives it to me and the beggars over there. Then, she also comes at night, with a plastic doll tied to her back and a man beating a small drum. Then she’ll dance for about 30minutes and then leave. Yet they say I’m mad. At my age, will I carry a plastic doll and dance around like I have nothing to do? I have better things to do, like taking care of Chief.
Aah!!! Chief, Chief, Chief! Chief is the surest person in this world. When I see him, my heart skips. Chief is the one that gives me everything I need. He comes here every Tuesday. Even the vigilante guy knows him. Chief is so consistent. He is my lover, my friend, my confidant, my everything.
He comes alone in his jeep at around 1:00am in the morning. He buys me a lot of things. He tells me every time that he wants me to always be happy. Chief spoils me. There was a day he bought me a big bucket of KFC chicken. Chai! I will not forget that day o. When Sikiru saw the bucket the next day, he was so surprised. He said “Ha, KFC chicken ko leleyi ni? Ta lo fun were ni KFC je?” I only smiled because my relationship with Chief was a secret. I don’t want anybody to pour sand sand inside my garri o.
Chief loves me. He might not say it, but I know he does. He buys me food that even those that say I’m mad have never eaten in their life. When he comes around, he waits for me to finish eating whatever he brings and then the most interesting part of the night starts. We have sex. Seriously, we make love. The way Chief touches me is indescribable. He takes me to the seventh heaven. I always look forward to Tuesday’s because of this. Chief is something else in bed. You would not think he was that good, looking at him from the age standpoint. Chief should be close to sixty, yet he works it like a man in his thirties. What I don’t like about the sex is that it doesn’t last long. Sometimes I feel like he’s forcing himself to do it. Anyway, sex is sex no matter how long it lasts. After we are done he even cleans me up himself. Huh… He’s such a loving man. He doesn’t use a handkerchief, he doesn’t use a tissue. He has a particular cloth he uses to clean me up and then he takes it with him. Isn’t that romantic? I’m so special. And they still say I’m mad.
Right now, I’m seated here waiting for the woman that sells porridge to pass. I’d like to buy some. Sikiru just gave me fifty naira. That should do it.

TOBI Gets New Premiere Date
Buoyed by his quest to consolidate on the standard set by previous Nigerian movies shot on foreign soil, Nigeria ’s emerging producer, Emmanuel Ijeh has revealed that the premiere of the movie, TOBI (a Nigerian movie shot in New York and New Jersey ) has been rescheduled for May 18, 2012.
It would be recalled that the premiere of the movie had earlier been set for April 13, 2012 but coming on the heels of a deliberate move to ensure that Nigerians enjoy the best of both Nollywood and Hollywood , the date of the official premiere of the film was inevitably shifted to May 18.
Here in Nigeria , the movie already has the blessings of a cross section of entertainment figures, showbiz personalities and many others who have expressed their eagerness to see the movie finally arrive in Nigerian cinemas.
Some of those who have openly given a nod of approval to the movie include Mr. Nigeria 2007, Bryan Okwara, popular singer, Muma Gee and the Most Outstanding Runway Model, Nigerian Models Achievers Awards (NMAA) 2011, Ejiro Jalogho also known as Crozz; even as the list continues to grow.
Interestingly, the producer, Ijeh recently arrived in Nigeria (precisely March 4, 2012) to ensure that plans are in top gear for the premiere of a movie that would further edge the face of the Nigerian movie industry on the rocks of brilliance and recognition.
The dark-skinned film maker further revealed that the movie TOBI was born out of his conviction that Nigerian stories should no longer be confined to the walls of Nollywood as he strongly believes that the bridge erected by movies like Ije, Mirror Boy and a host of others should be extended and strengthened by consistently keeping the oils of creativity and originality greased through hard work, commitment and dedication.
TOBI is a movie that captures the pillars of our individual choices, the height of sacrifice, the priceless nature of a sound education, the curse of nemesis and how we must all understand that when sorrow comes, they come not as single spies but in battalions.
The suspense-filled movie explores the consequences of what happens when 21-year-old Tobi (Mark Williams) tows the thin line between goodness and malevolent evil. In a flash, a simple life gets filled with gang pressure, violence, loaded weapons, bloodshed, murder, drugs, parental challenges and a flurry of conflicting voices.
On a flip side, the essence of love, family and the thematic colour of sacrifice also swim into perspective.
Meanwhile, the director, Bethels Agomuoh further bridges the gap between the Nollywood and Hollywood by shooting a Nigerian picture in the United States with a healthy blend of American and Nigerian cast.
TOBI has been scheduled to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on May 18, 2012 and will feature a red carpet premiere in Lagos .
The movie is proudly supported by Ozone Cinemas, Silverbird Cinemas , Nigeria Films, Blue Pictures, Emani Studios, City Mall, Moonfaceonline Magazine, Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, DSTV, Acada Magazine, Showbizhub247, Simply Samad MEDIA, Xi Concepts, Swish Interactive and a growing list of others.
Synopsis
This drama explores the story of 21-year-old Tobi (Mark Williams) and the pillars of his individual choices, the height of sacrifice, the priceless nature of a sound education, the curse of nemesis and how we must all understand that when sorrow comes, they come not as single spies but in battalions.
Cast
Mark Williams (as Tobi)
Chet Bashari Anekwe (as Tobi’s father)
Chisom Oz-Lee (as Tobi’s mother)
Jimmy Allen (as Tobi’s brother)
Producer – Emmanuel Ijeh
Director – Bethels Agomuoh
Review
Not the kind of story that would instantly fire up the bolts of momentary anticipation but the dramatic twists, suspense and sterling interpretation of roles by some of the cast scores high on the pages of a dramatic epic. Ironically, in place of the main story, the theme of blood bonding between brothers and the cards of sacrifice and selflessness touch a more sensitive cord.

Former Mr Nigeria, Bryan Okwara Speaks on TOBI
Former Mr. Nigeria, Bryan Okwara has described the production of the TOBI, a Nigerian movie shot on the streets of New York as a remarkable feat for the producer, Emmanuel Ijeh and the nation as a whole.
Okwara who has also dabbled into movies noted that Nigeria is gradually getting the big picture adding that there was still so much to do in the realm of production and quality.
One fact that Okwara and very many Nigeria’s would attest to is the wind of change that has hit the nation’s movie industry in recent times.
In the last one decade, the Nigerian movie industry has witnessed a rapid growth in the quality of the movies churned out by Nigerians; both at home and in the Diaspora.
Interestingly, Nigeria’s cinema culture has once again been revived with the gradual rise in the number of cinemas in the country as well as the caliber of businesses transactions that occur therein.
Okwara’s emergence as the country’s number one man via the globally recognized Mr. Nigeria contest in 2007 has remained one of the most important chapters in his life and even Okwara once openly acknowledged this.
The drama in the movie, TOBI explores the consequences of what happens when 21-year-old Tobi (Mark Williams) bows to the dark side of gang pressure. In a flash, a seemingly morally upright young man gets caught in a web of violence, guns, bloodshed, drugs, parental expectations and conflicting voices in his head. Interestingly, the bond of brotherhood also stretches the thematic window of choices and sacrifice. The director, Bethels Agomuoh further bridges the gap between the Nollywood and Hollywood by shooting a Nigerian picture in the United States with a healthy blend of American and Nigerian cast.

TOBI Another giant step into Hollywood
Gone are the days when Nigerians fantasized about the possibility of having the Nigerian movie industry work its way into its American counterpart prominently known as Hollywood.
Well, this dream has since morphed into reality and today, we now have Nigeria actors being cast in movies shot as far as New York, Australia and the rest of Europe.
Those familiar with Nigerian movies would instantly recall movies like Ije, Mirror Boy, Unwanted Guest and many others and how they helped bring down the walls of limitation.
Despite the glaring feats Nigeria has accomplished in this regard, the Nigerian movie industry has taken yet another huge step of progress via the shooting of TOBI; a Nigerian movie shot in the United States of America.
This is not just one of those movies where the producer or director sneaks a camera into the streets and shabbily shoots a single scene and merges this into a Nigerian picture. Rather, with an American lead cast (Mark Williams) and a cross section of other foreign and Nigerian actors, Nigeria’s U.S-based producer, Emmanuel Ijeh delivers a movie that takes a giant leap into the halls of Hollywood yet retaining its Nigerian essence.
TOBI revolves around the story of a 21-year-old adult who gets caught in the familiar web of dark influences that drive him towards the cliff of self destruction. The movie also offers a peek into how deep the bond of brotherhood goes and the sacrifices that come with it.
The movie has been scheduled to premiere in Nigerian cinemas on April 13, 2012 and will feature a red carpet premiere in Lagos.
The movie is proudly supported by Silverbird Cinemas, Wazobia FM, Nigeria Films, STV, Blue Pictures, Emani Studios, AIT, City Mall, DSTV, ROK Productionz, Sweet Sensation, Galaxy TV, Simply Samad MEDIA, Nollywood America, Swish Interactive and a growing list of partners and sponsors.

The rain that swept off the roofs.
I woke up this morning to a very heavy rain. Was it the rain? No. It was the wind!
Oh my Gosh! My roof was leaking like crazy. The wind was so much, I couldn't shot the windows. Bukky aka Oju Igo, my naughty hostel mate and friend had to stand by the window till it stopped raining.I was busy carrying containers and buckets to collect the water coming from my leaking roof.
We thought nature was against us until we found out what had happened outside.
The wind blew off so many roofs, including the Baale of Agboroko's Palace roof.
Check it out.
It wasn't funny o!!! The house in front of my hostel was also affected.
Check this.
This is Jamiu's house aka Otitokoro my Course mate.
That's Iya Sharafa's back in my picture. That woman can't do but get in my way sha. She also disturbs me with her early morning ranting. She's nice though.
Here's another house.
You see say no be small thing?
After the early morning fatigue. Bukky and I headed for School.
To browse for school sef na wahala. The School I.C.T. mast was on the floor.
After School there was no bus. Maybe all the drivers decided to stay at home with their wives because of the weather. Who knows? After about 15minutes at the Bus-stop, we flagged down a cars hoping they would lift us. Anyway sha, our very nice Lecturer Mr Ayobami Elegunde Aka A.Y. gave Me, Bukky and Halima a lift.
*Waving at my lecturer*
Now I'm here in this crazy Cyber cafe filled with guys. Bukky and I are the only ladies here. They are giving us a look of 'Who be this?'
Make them no beat us for here o.
Oh! You think I'll show you how badly wet my room is? You wish.

Ladies!!! Would You Do This To Get Attention?
R&B singer Shy'm whose real name is Tamara Marthe decided to be a Show-stopper at yesternight's NRJ Awards.
She showed up at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres in Cannes, wearing a transparent plastic corset with white tinsel-like material interspersed to create a frosted effect.
Let me ask. Why didn't she wear the same transparent plastic on the lower part?
